Grading and value

1967 and 1968 No SD 2c in nice red uncirculated condition graded by PCGS  fetch top prices.  However, a well circulated 1967 or 1968 No SD 2c is probably going to sell for $10-$20.

1967 Australia 2c ‘No SD’

The 1967 Australia 2 cent coin features the 2nd portrait of Queen Elizabeth II facing right wearing the Girls of Great Britain and Ireland Tiara and lettering ‘ELIZABETH II AUSTRALIA 1967’.

On the reverse, a Frill-necked Lizard (Chlamydosaurus kingii), also known as the Frilled Dragon, endemic to Australia and southern New Guinea, with lettering ‘2’ and the engraver’s initials ‘SD’.

The ‘SD’ initials should be present beneath the belly and left of the Lizard’s right-front claw.

In 1967, 1968 and again in 1981 some 2c coins were produced without the ‘SD’, making this decimal variety an important and sought-after item.
