The 1961 Australia One Pound banknote features Queen Elizabeth II at right with
Royal Australian Arms at top and the lettering ‘ONE POUND’ with ‘Legal tender in the Commonwealth and in all Territories under the control of the Commonwealth’ beneath with signatures of the Governor of the Reserve Bank and Secretary to the Treasury and ‘COMMONWEALTH OF AUSTRALIA’ below.

On the reverse the profile of Charles Sturt facing right & Hamilton Hume facing left with lettering:
ONE POUND, CHARLES STURT 1795-1869, HAMILTON HUME 1797-1973, JAMES COOK ENDEAVOUR, and
COMMONWEALTH OF AUSTRALIA below.
